Founded in 1823 by grain merchant John Bulloch, Auchentoshan distillery was initially a way to use surplus barley. A World War II bomb crater behind the distillery now forms the cooling water pond for its condensers. While production resumed in 1948, Auchentoshan whisky was used solely in blends until the 1970s when it was first bottled as a single malt. The core range now includes this 18-year-old expression, which is triple distilled and matured in American bourbon oak. It offers a refreshing Lowland whisky experience with notes of ripe citrus, green tea, toasted almonds, and a smooth, delicate finish.

This award-winning Auchentoshan Single Malt Scotch Whisky has been matured in three different cask types. From American Bourbon to Spanish Oloroso Sherry – and then, finally, Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks – this a rich, complex whisky with toffee and sherry flavours. Three Wood makes a cracking Auchentoshan & Ale, a mean Old Fashioned and a fine dram in its own right. Expect a rich, golden brown colour in your bottle of Three Wood. Aromas of blackcurrant, brown sugar, orange, plum and raisin notes are present in the Three Wood. Tastes of fruit, syrup, hazelnut with hints of cinnamon and lemon. A butterscotch sweetness adds to the overall complexity. The finish is fresh, fruity and smooth with long lasting oaky sweetness.
