Ben Nevis Distillery was established by John MacDonald in 1825 and only pure highland water collected from the highest water source in Scotland is used to make this fine whisky. This dram has an abundance of character on the nose with floral, fragrant, honey, citrus fruits of orange and beeswax with elements of toffee and vanilla aromas. The taste is initially spicy leading to an energy of cereal flavours. Smooth creaminess of dark chocolate invites you to to sample another drop.

A nose that has a rich and warming character with toffee and honeyed vanilla, a lightly woody aroma finishing with barley sugar sweetness. Taste – Initial notes of fresh pears and apricots followed by a malty sweetness and leading to a smooth, creamy and woody finish.

Ben Nevis MacDonald’s Traditional 185th Anniversary Highland single malt Scotch whisky. Peated expression of the distillery in Fort William. Recreation of the Ben Nevis distillery style from 130 years ago. Aromas of hot, warming spices cinnamon and black pepper. Chargrilled beef burger with sweet sherry, new make, ash and smoke. Seville orange peel. The palate is surprisingly soft with a very oily mouthfeel. Oak, ash, barely sugars, porridge and pine needles with wonderfully sweet sherry. The finish is very oily, more sweet sherry notes, ask and smoke envelopes the mouth.

Glencoe is a Blended Malt produced by Ben Nevis distillery, referring to the narrow valley (Glencoe in Gaelic) near the site and to the famous owner John MacDonald who used to market his brand as Long John’s Ben Nevis in Victorian times. The recipe is unknown but rumoured it is mainly Ben Nevis with just one other distillery, also from the Highlands. It is bottled at cask strength without artificial colouring.
