Batch 3 of anCnoc Peatheart, a heavily peated single malt boasting 34ppm, stays true to its name. Hailing from the remote Knockdhu distillery nestled in the heart of Scottish peatlands, this expression centers its taste profile around the essence of peat. Presented at a robust 46% abv and free from chill filtration, it retains its natural color. Aromas of sweet barbeque and earthy peat intermingle with honey and gentle spice, creating a fragrant, grassy character on the nose. On the palate, smoky layers intertwine with green apple, citrus, and vanilla bean sweetness, with hints of oily smoke emerging. The experience lingers into a lengthy finish, accompanied by a touch of sweet spice.

Nose – Very sweet on the nose. Initially it is all creme caramel, caramelised fruit sugars, wood sugar, toffee and fudge before some apple and peach come through. In time a charred note of bourbon with a pleasing dusty dryness.
Palate – A sweet start on the palate. The alcohol gives a little tongue-tingling buzz the result is a good mid-palate weight. The dry distillery character is there still, but there is now depth to counter. Water slightly dismantles the different elements, but adds some dried mint.
Finish – A deep and dark finish.
