Fettercairn’s 2023 release of their 16-year-old single malt, the fourth in its series, undergoes maturation in first-fill ex-Port pipes and ex-Bourbon casks. It brilliantly highlights the distillery’s trademark tropical flavors, a result of their unique cooper cooling ring distillation method. Clear mountain water drenches the stills to ensure only the finest vapors ascend. Presented at 46.4% ABV, it greets the nose with tropical fruit warmth, rich cacao, sugared almonds, and floral notes. The palate bursts with blackberries, raspberries, sweet vanilla, and caramel, followed by hints of plum, ginger cake, cherries, and aged oak spice, accentuating Fettercairn’s tropical house character.
