Curiositas Is A 10 Year Old, Peated Release From The Benriach Distillery In What They Call The ‘Classic Speyside Style
Traditionalists Believe That Peated Malts Achieve Optimum Balance Of Peat-Bittersweet And Oak Infusion After 10 Years Of Maturation. Definitely One To Try For Phenol Fans.
Nose – Aromatic Peat Reek With Fragrant Hints Of Honey, Fruit And Mellow Oak.
Palate – An Avalanche Of Peat, Followed By An Extravagant And Complex Mix Of Fruit, Heather, Nuts, Oak Wood And Spices.
Finish – A Distinct Malt With Great Depth And A Bitter Sweet Balance.
Nose – Very sweet on the nose. Initially it is all creme caramel, caramelised fruit sugars, wood sugar, toffee and fudge before some apple and peach come through. In time a charred note of bourbon with a pleasing dusty dryness.
Palate – A sweet start on the palate. The alcohol gives a little tongue-tingling buzz the result is a good mid-palate weight. The dry distillery character is there still, but there is now depth to counter. Water slightly dismantles the different elements, but adds some dried mint.
Finish – A deep and dark finish.

Palate – Spirity At First, Then Gives Way To Perfume, Fruit, Plum Jam. A Good Sweetness, Peat Smoke And Hints Of Grape.
Finish – Seville Marmalade, Blossom, Dark Peat.
