Highland Park’s 18 Year Old enjoyed a redesign in 2017, receiving livery inspired by the wood carvings from Urnes Stave Church and a new sub-name, “Viking Pride”. The Orkney single malt remains the same as before – rich, complex and supremely delicious.
Nose: A profusion of ripe floral notes and fresh blossom with a delectable fruit salad. Notes of honeyed exotic fruits with a little botrytis.
Palate: Creamy and full with fruit conserves and espresso. A creaminess with cinnamon and allspice. Notes of toffee with thick black forest honey with a touch more citrus.
Finish: Long and well sugared with a herbal edge.
VIKING HONOUR reflects the unique culture of remote island home on Orkney. Part of Scotland yes, but originally belonging to a vast Viking kingdom. At Highland Park, they honour the spirit of Viking ancestors, sharing their pride, integrity and fierce independence, and still distill our award-winning whisky to the same exacting standards introduced in 1798 by our founder, Magnus Eunson, a descendant of those early Viking settlers.
Nose – Heather-honey sweetness, peaty smokiness.
Palate – Rounded smoky sweetness, full malt delivery.
Finish – Sweet and lingering with heathery notes and subtle smoke.
