Product Information
Lindores Abbey Distillery has launched the first bottle in a limited annual series to honour its historic connection with the Thiron-Gardais abbey in southwest France, marking 833 years since Lindores Abbey’s link to l’Abbaye de Tiron. This release commemorates Friar John Cor’s 1494 order to produce aqua vitae for the king. Lindores Thiron 2024, aged in red wine barriques, bourbon casks, and French virgin oak from the Thiron-Gardais region, is bottled at 49.4% ABV and is non-chill filtered. The brand planted oak trees in the region to replace those used for the casks.
Nose: Gingernut biscuits, ripe plum, pear, cinnamon syrup, banoffee pie, marzipan, followed by vanilla pastry, white chocolate, marmalade, and polished oak.
Palate: Burnt toast with caramel and blackberry jam, dark fruit biscuits, clove, nutmeg, cooked apple, orange rind, and black pepper, with a strong oak presence.
Finish: Garden herbs, drying bitter oak, rubber, and coffee cake.
