Now for something completely different from The Drinks Lab, an innovation facility based in Glasgow for craft drinks. When their clients leave at the end of the day, they use their facility to create spirit experiments.
Strange Bedfellows is the first to launch in their experimental spirit collection, aptly named as this spirit brings together two different spirits inside one bottle. It all began with a curiosity of whether a bespoke dark rum could be created that would be the perfect bedfellow for a cask of Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
The Cask, was born in the Highlands, contained a light and creamy single malt which note of orange zest and fudge. Eighteen different rums were created to pair with the whisky, eventually a rum with a base of raspberries and cinnamon was selected. The two spirits collided inside the hand filled bottling line on the outskirts of Glasgow and the maiden experiment was complete. Experiment 001, Batch 001 – 880 bottles produced.
