Nose – A bit of an off-note on the nose – still has that vanilla, cacao, smoky peatiness of the 8 year old. Apple, raisin, light nuttiness, a light sherry rancio note, earthiness, some candy notes, lemon, a slight off barnyard note as well. Reasonably complex, but the off-note takes away from the nose.
Palate – Vanilla, with some smoke, pear, and raisin…lightly off as found on the nose. Slightly bitter. Lightly sweet – just about right to balance out this whisky. There’s also some chilli pepper.
Finish – Smoky, fruity (apple/pear), creamy, caramel, pear, guava, slight nuttiness, light oak, and some more of that saffron. Lightly dry, with some white pepper playing in as well. The feel of the finish is quite good.

Nose – Oloroso Sherry, light vegetable Peat, Malt, Vanilla, Toast, Brown Sugar, Orange Marmalade, Sugared Almonds, Dried Apricot, Figs, light Honey and other Floral tones, Old Leather Chairs that have just been polished, light Spices and a pinch of Salt.
Palate – Bitter-Sweet with Caramel, Orange, Perfumed Honey, Oloroso, light Peat, Oak, Vanilla, Pepper, Cinnamon, Dried Fruits, Nuts, Licorice, Cognac and a sprinkle of Salt.
Finish – Middle Long with Oak, Chili Pepper, light Peat, Vanilla, light Cinnamon, Malt, Citrus and Licorice.

Poit Dhubh (pronounced Potch Ghoo) is the Gaelic term for illicit still, renowned for producing the finest whiskies. Following traditional methods this 8 year old malt is unchilfiltered, giving a softness to the spirit and a richness to the flavour. It may appear hazy if chilled. Medium sweet and rich, with aromatic peatiness with a long, smoky and slightly perfumed finish.
