Matured in a mix of Oloroso sherry, STR, and PX casks selected by Production Director John Campbell from their Ayrshire warehouse, Batch 2 offers a fresh experience from the Lowland distillery, opening with aromas of apples, peaches, and marmalade, revealing floral flavors of wild lavender and rose petals, and finishing with black pepper and additional fruity notes.

Lochlea Cask Strength Batch 3 is the latest release in the distillery’s bold and evolving cask strength series. Bottled in 2025, this 70cl expression introduces a new recipe featuring 66% Oloroso sherry butts and 33% ex-Islay bourbon barrels, marking the first use of peated casks in the series. The result is a striking balance of rich fruitiness and subtle smoke. On the nose, ripe red fruits meet BBQ smoke, followed by a palate of cherries, dark molasses, ginger cake, toasted rye and charred wood. The finish is long and complex with baking spice, salty smoke, oaky tannins and delicate floral notes of red roses.

Lochlea Dark Briar is a bold and indulgent single malt from the distillery’s new Single Estate core range, crafted from home-grown barley and matured entirely on-site in Ayrshire. Inspired by the Fallow Edition, it is matured in a combination of Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso sherry butts and Port casks, resulting in a rich whisky layered with juicy red fruits, ginger cake and velvety baking spice. Bottled at 46% ABV with natural colour and no chill filtration, it offers a nose of red fruit, caramel and fresh spice, a palate of cherries, plums and warming tannins, and a long, rich finish of spice and smooth tannins.

In recent years, Lochlea’s seasonal small batch releases have highlighted the distillery’s signature style through four unique expressions, each reflecting the farm’s activities at that time of year. Harvest Edition (Third Crop) is the second release in the final set of limited editions, concluding the Seasonal trilogy. This whisky is double matured in refill bourbon barrels, port hogsheads, and an oloroso sherry butt, offering a fresh take on the sweet, summery profile of the Harvest series. With an extra year of aging, it delivers rich dessert notes upfront, balanced by a savoury black pepper finish.
Nose: Bright red grapes, fresh strawberry jam and clotted cream
Palate: Sweeter notes of baked apple pie and white chocolate
Finish: Beautifully balanced, with savoury notes of cracked black pepper. -

Lochlea Orchard & Oak is a bright, fruit-forward single malt crafted as part of the distillery’s new Single Estate core range, made entirely from home-grown barley and matured on-site in Ayrshire. Bottled at 46% ABV with natural colour and no chill filtration, it is matured in a combination of first-fill bourbon, virgin American oak and Calvados casks. The result is a vibrant whisky with aromas of sweet apple, fresh grass and light florals, leading to flavours of green apple, buttery caramel and gentle oak spice, finishing with sweet oak, caramel and a touch of cereal warmth.

The fourth and final in an annual series of limited seasonal bottlings Lochlea ‘ploughing edition’ reflects the season of Winter on the farm, when Lochlea start to plough the fields in preparation for sowing the barley seed in Spring. The Distillery have created a warming, smoky version of their signature whisky by using a combination of ex-islay barrels and peated quarter casks and have chosen an icy blue label to reflect the bitterly cold and frosty Ayrshire winters.
Nose: Baked Fruit with a light peat smoke in the background
Palate: Old fashioned boiled sweets, cooked apple and Brazil nuts.
Finish: Lingering fruit and nuttiness, all intertwined with a haze of Islay peat smoke

These seasonal small batch releases showcase the signature Lochlea style in four different ways each year. As a working farm, these expressions tie-in with exactly what is happening here at that time of year. In this Ploughing Edition (Second Crop) for 2023- the fourth in a new set of four limited editions – Lochlea have used 100% ex-Islay Barrels. The main differences from Ploughing Edition (First Crop) this year are the focus on solely 200 litre barrels, and further ageing in thier on-site warehouse. This whisky starts with fresh green apple on the nose, then come those inviting trademark Lochlea cereal notes. The palate offers more succulent fruit alongside fresh cut summer hay. The finish shows savoury hints of sea salt and lingering peaty embers.

Bottled at 46% ABV with natural colour and no chill filtration, it is matured in a combination of ex-peated refill bourbon barrels and red wine casks, creating a balance of soft red fruits, floral sweetness and gentle bonfire smoke. The nose opens with red berries, cherry blossom, lemon peel and subtle smoke, leading to a palate of sea spray, oak, citrus and delicate fruit, before finishing with light char, soft blossom and lingering fresh phenols.
