Non-peated with a warm and remarkably long finish. The whisky is intrinsically connected to nature, the peatlands and the historic mountain that it is named after. Medium-bodied, with notes of date and walnut cake, spicy caramel, Oloroso sherry, and hints of earthy forest. A light base of malt, with toffee apple and a touch of smoke.
The Mountain of Creag Dhu (The Black Rocky Hill) is the iconic mountain by Strathmashie Distillery overlooking the River Spey in the Cairngorms National Park; steeped in ancient history and surrounded by beautiful and wild peatlands. Cù Bòcan Signature is a lightly peated expression that has been drawn from a trio of casks; bourbon casks, Oloroso sherry casks and North American virgin oak casks. No chill-filtration or additional colours for this one, just fruit-forward, softly smoky whisky.
Nose: Coconut ice, lemons on the BBQ, a touch of white chocolate and strawberries.
Palate: Richer on the palate than on the note, with chewy caramel and dates. Still retails a hint of BBQ char.
Finish: Cooking spices slowly build, with a touch of apple and peach.
