This limited edition 14 Year Old Caol Ila is a cask strength Islay single malt from the Four Corners of Scotland Collection, celebrating the 2022 transformation of the Caol Ila distillery. The nose is clean and fresh with subtle medicinal notes, soft smokiness, and hints of pastry and laundered linen, while the palate opens sweet and smoky, developing with touches of salt, light acidity, and lingering spice. Presented here is a single cask Islay whisky meticulously selected by Douglas Laing for its esteemed Old Particular collection. Distilled in November 2010 at the Caol Ila Distillery, it matured exclusively within a single refill hogshead cask for a duration of 12 years. In December 2022, it was skillfully bottled at a robust 48.4% ABV, meticulously prepared without the use of chill-filtration or the addition of any artificial coloring agents.
Nose: Lemon peel, rock pools, vanilla, garden herbs, and a hint of liquorice.
Palate: Oily and sweet with custard, ginger, and lots of maritime smoky elements.
Finish: Full of smoke and creamy sweetness.
